Player wird geladenDark Secret is a project of my 'Moving Image' course of my study abroad at the Auckland University of Technology. In group work, we had to create a movie trailer for a fictional thriller or drama. We should think up a story and film the trailer for it. The entire post production was then individual work.
The film is about a manager who comes into a new town to start a new business. In his new environment, however, strange things happen and he soon realizes that something is wrong. It seems as if everything was familiar to him, like as if he had been in this city before. Moreover, he is pursued by an obsessed girl. The manager starts a search and realized that he actually had been in this place in the past. A few years ago he passed through a terrible thing for the girl who pursues him, is now demanding revenge. It starts a race against time.
I made up the story and we refined it in the group. The full story to the film can be downloaded here.
In the project I took the camera work and project management. Post Production had to be done individually. I did the editing in Premiere, composited in After Effects, did a little 3D work in Maya, sounds in garage band and Soundbooth, and color grading in Synthetic Aperature Colorfinesse 3.

Caitiff World

Together with Anna-Karina Drews I went through the complete production pipeline of a short film. We developed all the concepts of the film, such as story, screenplay, storyboard and shot list. I took the camera while shooting, composed the entire music for the film, the DVD menus, trailer, and extra videos on the DVD. Furthermore I took over the cut, and the visual effects of our protagonist, created a trailer and movie posters and took over the entire DVD production. This includes the composition of all media files animated DVD menus, DVD cover, DVD label and booklet, and programing and compositing everything together.
The film is about the dangerous situation of somebody to bury himself in his own world and no longer perceive anything to want. The result is an isolation with no way out.
Mylana enjoys her young life. But their it will not be eternal. Kyrag, demon of darkness has followed her into the deserted forest. It begins a hunt for the life of the elf. Mylanas odds are not good because Kyrag is a master of magic. Only with a joint effort of the lost souls she will have a chance to survive and destroy Kyrag forever.

Player wird geladenThe international course of studies in Electrical Engineering is an eight-semester Bachelor's degree. in this very special kind of education the students broad knowledge of electrical engineering, both in theory and in practice. The students get two degrees, one at the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck, the others in the academic year at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin, USA. To make the program known I produced a promotional film. I created the concept and content, filmed everything and made the cut and the whole compositing. Billy and the Book is a project of my '3D Modeling and Animation' course at the Auckland University of Technology. In the course we got to know the basics in Maya. For our assignment in this course, we should produce a previsualization to a short story about a character in 3D. The Previsualization is the step between animated storyboards and final product. We were free in how detailed we should model and animate our sequence. The whole project was individual work. Here the individual steps. The first step of this project was the story, followed by reflections on the environment and musical character. Then on the basis I had to created a storyboard and based on that I had to create an animatic, which is an animated storyboard. This was followed by the modeling of the environment, animation, lights and render settings. Finally, the compositing, color grading and audio effects and creating a musical character. For the animation we could us a pre-rigged character that has been given to us. For my robot I have only taken the pre-rigged head and modelled the rest of the body separately. I did the modelling in Maya, editing in Premiere, compositing in After Effects, audio editing in Soundbooth music and sound effects in Garage Band and color grading in Synthetic Aperature ColorFinesse2. Motion Capture

As an assignment we should create first a small 20-second sequence with a figure and a prop. The scene should be kept simple, no complex rendering effects such as textures and no Motionblur or a shallow depth of field.
I decided for a baseball player who enters the stage, warms up and then hits the baseball. Many thanks to my Actor Jason Sabbage again.
The recording was made in Optic tracks Arena, post production in MotionBuilder, Maya and After Effects, the color grading in Synthetic Aperature ColorFinesse 3 and the music in garage band.

On his website he can create accounts for each guitar student. For every account he can activate downloading files for the lessons, such as notes and audio playback. In addition, the site has a community feature that allows a message exchange between students and him. The website will be used as a central organization platform.

REB - This is the newly established school radio in the grammar school Eckhorst Bargteheide. By students for students. I programmed the editors a website on which they can send their radio reports. In the backend the members of the editorial can now upload their audio files and write and manage news articles. The contributions are then displayed on the homepage and can be heard in a Flash Player. In addition, the website will leave on a news blog, where continually updated news are presented. The NinetyNine is a venue in Lübeck, in which live music of all styles of music is played. The entrepreneur Thies Molt has created a new concept for the location: For only 99 € you can rent the NinetyNine for an evening. I've done a redesign, concept and complete reprogramming. The website has now also a guestbook and photo gallery, a registration and customer system. After registering in the system the user can book the event directly in an event calendar. The project required a lot of database and PHP programming. The website can be reached here:

A big project in the 4th Semester was the design project. In our two-person group, we made a complete redesign and reprogrammming for the prosport Surf School in Greece. prosport offers several activities for young and old and is cooperating with a 5-star hotel. This hotel will also be presented on the website. For the project I've done the complete design of the website and taken a large part of programming. For the managing director of Prosport I programmed a content management system, which he can now use to write news on the website and manage guestbook entries.

DearPenfriend is a communication platform of the sixth class of 'Heinrich von Bibra school' of Fulda in Germany and the East Kilbridge School in Scotland. It serves as the messaging server environment in which students of this schools can communicate. The communication tool is based of two database systems. A large part of the Site is governed by PHP scripts. Each student can create their own user account. After successful login, the student has access to its previously received messages and has the opportunity to other students of the other school to write a message. DearPenfriend is used by 45 students.
Note: DearPenfriend is a user-limited project, and may only be used by students of the two schools mentioned above. Therefore, the access is encrypted.

In the third semester, we had the subject 'Software Technology' in which we programed an adventure game in Java. It is called 'Eine Gehemnisvolle Nacht' (which can be tranlated as 'A Mysterious Night'). For this game, I programmed a website where you can download the game. The site has additional information about the game. I also programmed a guestbook and a category rating system for the game.

Zephyr is the band in which I play the lead guitar. In order to make the band better known and to present the latest information of our band for other users I programed a website with news content, band presentation, shop and its own media section. On the website there are available now lots of videos, photos, music and other media content. The site also includes interactive Flash elements and hidden links (hidden eastereggs). A large part of the site is controlled dynamically via PHP scripts.

Good evening! My name is Simon Jokuschies. I am 24 years old and I study "Information Technology and Design" at the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck, Germany. The study combines the pipeline of video (preproduction, production, postproduction), design, photography and programing. I am very interested in film, particularly compositing and 3D animation. Therefore, in 2011 I specialized in a study abroad at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand in the fields of visual effects and 3D animation. For several years I am concerned with video- and post production. During that time I produced lots of works including skate videos, music videos, live music recordings, over theatre plays, documentations, visualisations developed up to short films of various kinds. Incidentally, I also like to occupy myself with photography and web programming. My passion is music and my band. Accordingly, I like to work on anything that requires creativity. The most fun I have on big challenges. In the gallery you can find some works that I've ever produced.
